Education department was allotted Rs 79,685.95 crore in budget 2017-18
#1. Budget emphasize Start up India, Stand up India. It has focused on developing skills among youth and encouraging them towards entrepreneurship. The following are contributions in the budget:
The National Skill Development Mission was initiated to train 76 lakh youth.Rs 1,700 crore was provided for 1500 multi-skill development centers.
Skill development to be implemented from this year . It has allotted Rs 2,200 crore for skill development.
promotes entrepreneurship among SC/STs : Rs 500 crore was allotted for this purpose.
Entrepreneurship training was provided across schools and colleges.
It talks on Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras is meant to extend. more than 600 districts across the country will be opened. youth get access to employment opportunities abroad.
#2. As part of digital India mission: It has its secondary focus on this mission.
A digital literacy scheme was launched. It covers six crore additional rural households. This scheme is necessary to increase digital transactions. demonetization of notes make the situation necessary to go digital.

#3. Higher education:
Rs 1,000 crore budget was provided for higher education. This was given for financing.
AICTE and CBSE were freed from all other responsibilities.
Good quality institutions were given encouragement. If institutions maintain good standards , then they will be considered for autonomy. In this budget, centre gave much focus on the institutions and universities. It is willing to increase number of institutions for higher education.
In this budget, focus was given on PG seats in medical. Center is interested in increasing number of PG medical seats. Not only quantity, but quality was also given importance in this budget.
AICTE and CBSE were completely confined to academics Regarding conducting entrance tests, a separate organization will be formed and it will be given duties to conduct tests. Therefore, the quality of education will be improved. Since, boards are freed from other work, they can concentrate on improving quality of education . they can conduct inspection from time to time.
DTH channels are used to link online courses available on the SWAYAM platform. This portal will offer 310 online courses. This will enable students to access high-quality education resource. SWAYAM was also available as online portal.
Two new AIIMS institutes are given approval. One in Jharkhand and the other in Gujarat
Secondary education:
Rs46,356.25 crore has been allotted for school education.
Innovation Fund is to be initialized for secondary education.
Proposal to launch a system of measuring learning in schools. Emphasis on science education and flexible curriculum. This a new and innovative step. This is still under consideration.
Overall, budget was impressive by number and quality. But wait and see for its implementation. This budget is a good news for students. There are many initiatives from government for students. There are many students who utilize these policies of government effectively.
