This drastic decision came as an unexpected shock to many the tennis fans when Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis decided to end their remarkable partnership. They took this decision as they were not getting desirable results for past 5 months and will continue with new partners in the upcoming tournaments.
This Indian and Swiss combination started last year in march with a smack, winning three Titles in a row at Indian Wells, Miami, and Charleston. Together they won 14 Titles which include 3 majors in 16-month long partnership.
This famous duo became world number one by ceasing the Charleston event. Sania also won her first ever women’s doubles Grand Slam title by winning the Wimbledon together with Martina. Later,their success continued as the pair also won the 2015 US Open.
The partnership has ended because they have not got desireable results in the past five months. The reason may be they have lost to players outside top-100 and it reflects that something is wrong. Sources say that it’s a regular phenomenon to can change partners if results are not achieved.
The winning duo had carried their red-hot form even in this season by winning four events straight, including the Australian Open, their third Grand Slam together.They stitched together an incredible 41-match winning streak which ended this year in February at Doha where they lost to Russians Elena Vesnina and Daria Kasatkina.
They were also unable to defend their Wimbledon crown.
Their last tournament together was Montreal event which happened last month which they have lost in quarterfinals.
Sania now paired up with world number 21 Barbora Strycova from the Czech Republic while the pair will be playing at Cincinnati event and set to play with American Bethanie-Mattek Sands at New Haven.
While Martina has teamed up with Coco Vandeweghe of the United States of America.
