    This type of medicine is not found everywhere. These medicines can be sold by only those pharmacists who have license. It comes under narcotic drugs. NRx symbol represents new prescriptions. It conveys that for the first time a patient has been prescribed a particular drug.

    Actually there is no historical significance of this word. Nowadays in the place of Rx you will get the word Adv. Which means advice. Some doctors write adv. Which is also Rx.
