You Need Extra Support
We all go through challenges throughout our lifetime. Whether you’re dealing with a breakup, the death of a loved one, or the loss of a beloved pet, we could do with some extra shoulders to cry on during these tough times. Of course, you’ll have your existing friends and family members there already, but it’s always nice to have more support. Even after years of no contact, your old friends will be sure to offer their guidance and help you through any challenging periods. Your old friends know your history. They know what you’ve been through in the past and how you are likely to react to certain situations. This can be extremely helpful when you’re looking to those around you for support. You’ve Got a Special Occasion Coming Up Important birthdays, marriage ceremonies, giving birth to a beautiful baby. There are lots of special occasions that will happen in your life. Wouldn’t it be nice to have all of your old friends there to celebrate with you? Old friends can make these already exciting events even more fun. You can reminisce on your special memories and laugh about how you feel so much older now you’re all getting married and having children! You’ve already shared so many memories with them so why not share even more by inviting them along to your special events? Bring them along to enjoy your celebrations and offer their support. You might find that you stay connected after your event and your friendship blossoms once again. They might also invite you to their special events so you can celebrate their wins too! You Miss Them There are many reasons why you might lose contact with people. Sometimes, life gets in the way and you naturally drift apart. Or maybe you had a disagreement and one of you never quite got over it. Years down the line, you can start to miss them. You wish that you’d made time to see them back when you were still connected. You no longer feel resentment or anger about your past disagreements. If you’re missing your old friends, this is a good enough reason to make a move and reach out to them. Missing someone is never enjoyable and it can start to affect your mental health if you find yourself constantly wondering where this person is and what they’re up to. Strike up a conversation with ‘long time, no see!’ Or remind them of a significant memory that you have together. In no time, it’ll be like old times and you’ll be joking about your past. When you’re ready, arrange a meet-up. There are lots of great places you can go to reignite your friendship. You could go for a coffee or grab a bite to eat at a local cafe. It might be nerve-wracking meeting up after so many years, but it will be worth making the effort! No more missing your old friends because they’re no longer ‘old’ friends! You Need Some Advice Family and current friends will always be happy to offer advice for you when you’re confused about something in your life. But having the extra guidance of your old friends might be exactly what you need. Old friends know you well. They know what’s best for you and they can put things into perspective when you’re unsure of the next steps to do. Your old friends will make the hard decisions a little easier. They’re the ones who have seen you through the good times and the bad times. They know how you truly feel and what’s going to be the best decision for you to take, regardless of the situation.
