Proper preparation
It is all warm and sunny, but this doesn't mean a storm can't roll in. Before you set sail, ensure you've checked the weather. Daily reports aren't foolproof, but they help. As you prepare, learn what to look out for, like common approaching storm signs, for example, choppy water or gusts of wind. Check your inventory and ensure you are prepared for possible disasters. A mirror, whistle, ropes, flashlight, first aid kit, life jackets, among other essentials, might seem like a no-brainer. Nonetheless, you never know when you might need them, and ensuring they are in place is an essential safety protocol on yachts.
