Not Getting the Right Size

Before going to the store or buying the unit online, you must first decide on the size of the appliance you need to buy. Buying a big one when you only need a small company is not a bang for the buck. Genadi Kahanovich, owner of SmileHVAC.ca says: “Never make the mistake of assuming that a bigger unit can efficiently cool any room or that a smaller company will not be enough for a specific space.” It is best to have a professional assess your room size before finalizing what to buy. They will make recommendations based on the size of the room, windows, possible installation areas, materials used for the roof and walls, and better explain the most energy-efficient product when it comes to AC. While you can calculate the room's size, it is better to let a pro handle the job. This way, you can have your other rooms checked to get updated on whether or not you are using AC units suited for each room size and do not eat up a lot of your total energy consumption. Buying an oversized AC unit for a small room will consume more electricity, but it doesn't mean that it will cool the room faster or better than a smaller AC unit. Since the on and off cycles are short, the big AC won't create a uniform temperature. On the other hand, using a smaller AC unit for a bigger space will fail to cool the whole area. Since the smaller AC would work harder in cooling the ample space, it may lead to the unit's frequent breakdown and higher electricity consumption.
