Masters of Business Administration

MBA is a two-year course where it covers all the management subjects in the first year and gives you the opportunity to specialize in a certain area in the second year. In India, the main subjects that are on offer when it comes to specialization are Finance, Marketing, and Human Resource. At the end of the second year, the students are supposed to complete a project analyzing the various aspects in their concerning specific area of specialization. One disadvantage that the MBA course design has,  is that the college or university where the students pursue the course are affiliated to that particular state university. For example, if you are pursuing your MBA in Chennai, the course will be affiliated with the state university college (Tamilnadu). There is no authorized standard uniform regulatory body or a standardized pattern on how the course should be designed and structured. Every university have their own way of teaching pattern, conducting exams and correcting the papers. So this leads to a lot of variations when it comes to the final results while one university might be really liberal and genuine, the other might be strict and have tough rules. In order to make the Indian education standardized so that all the students pursuing them can have the same pattern, the national level counsel, All India Council for Technical Education which comes under higher education has come up with a similar course structure in management like MBA called as “Post Graduation Diploma in Management”. Students often get confused between MBA and PGDM thinking that PGDM is something that is not equivalent to MBA considering it as a kind of Diploma course.
