Keep It Minor
The risk in doing a major overhaul of the house is that it is done in your taste and not the buyers. The buyer wants to see themselves in the home, so they will want to make some changes but not if the entire house needs to be changed. Just make improvements that are big enough to be appreciated because they save time and money but not so big that it will remove any opportunity to personalize.
