Cleaning the condenser coils

The condenser coils are responsible for expelling the heat removed from the air by releasing it outside the building. Over time, these coils can become encrusted with dirt, dust, and other debris, which insulates the coils and reduces their ability to dissipate heat.  This inefficiency can lead to increased wear and tear on the system and higher energy bills. To clean the condenser coils, turn off the unit and remove any visible debris from the exterior. Use a commercially available coil cleaner following the manufacturer's instructions for a more thorough cleaning.
