It is mainly known for its stone sculpture industry, and also a good place for cheap shopping. Other places to visit in Mahabalipuram are Shore Temple, Five Rathas and Arjuna's penance. Every year there is a dance festival that happens every year from December to January. The Golden beach is considered to be as one of the cleanest beaches in South India.
