Rameshwaram and Danushkodi

A very peaceful pilgrim town in southern Tamil Nadu, where people come to bathe in its holy water to purify their sins and then visit Ramanathaswamy Temple. The town is tied to the Hindu Epic Ramayana. This is the famous place where Lord Ram had told Lord Hanuman to build a bridge across the ocean to rescue Seetha from Ravan who had abducted her. This place almost connects India with Sri Lanka, only about 30km away. Not far away from this area is the town of Dhanushkodi a town that was destroyed by a cyclone in 1964. A very historic place and one should really visit this to experience the past.
