Ointments, when directly applied on a fresh wound, will increase bacterial activity as it contains a lot of moisture. This will further increase the time required to heal the wound. The best thing you could do is just wash the wound with cold water and soap and apply a dry bandage or band-aid. This will make the wound heal faster.
