Amrita Sher-Gil (1913 – 1941) – She was a celebrated painter who completed her studies in art at the School of Santa Annaciata in Florence, Italy and later at the Academie de la Grande Chaummiere, Paris. She also went on to study at the Ecole Nationale Des Beaux-Arts. Amrita Shergill one of the most influential painters is believed to have emerged in the history of contemporary Indian art. She is often denoted as India’s Frida Kahlo and generally, her work of paintings depicts Indo-Western exotic earthy appeal. After all that she did with her paintings, it is aught to be one of the most expensive pieces to grace anyone’s collection.
