The official Deadpool trailer is out. This new Red Band trailer is already giving us the chills. Ryan Reynolds looks like the perfect choice for this character. The trailer is witty and violent. It has made us even more impatient to await 2016. This anti-hero character is winning everyone’s hearts. The official synopsis for Deadpool gives us the basic outline of the movie.
“Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.” Deadpool is a funny, sarcastic sadist.
Here is a list of some things that everyone should know about him:
1. Wade Wilson vs. Slade Wilson
Those of you who have seen ‘Arrow’ would already be familiar with the character named Slade Wilson a.k.a. Deathstroke. And for those of you who haven’t.
This character started as a rip-off of DC’s famous villain Deathstroke. Marvel jokingly decided to name it Wade Wilson. The two characters are very similar. They are both experts at using different weapons. They can both heal quickly. They almost have the same costumes (two-toned). They both want to kill the person who ruined their lives. Despite these similarities, they are way different.
2. Mass murderer
In one of the series titled, “Deadpool kills the Marvel Universe”, he actually kills everybody. He is one of the most dangerous anti-heroes that Marvel has ever created. In this four-part series, Deadpool is subject to a lopsided experiment and starts killing all the superheroes, villains and everyone in the Marvel Universe. He used different weaponry to assassinate everybody. Even the Avengers posed a victim to his stints. The most thrilling part of the series was when he pointed out to the readers and whispered, “I will find you soon enough“.
3. His relationship with Death
He is famous for his love-hate relationship with everybody. Although he wasn’t exactly popular among the women, he managed to woo Death (a Marvel character) with his charm, no matter how little. He was a part of a love triangle that included Death and Thanos, the most feared character in the Marvel Universe. His relationship with Death was envied by Thanos. In order to impress Death, Thanos tried to destroy every existing being. He couldn’t win over Death but he was a cruel man. He made Deadpool virtually immortal so that even he couldn’t have Death.
4. Appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Do you remember the person with a stitched mouth? Yes, he was Deadpool. Ryan Reynolds was the man behind that face. This character was another one of William Stryker’s experiments. He was sent to fight Wolverine after Sabertooth was defeated. He was an immortal mutant and when Wolverine cut his head off, he was still alive. It is said that at that moment he broke the fourth wall.
5. Alternative reality and his faces
Marvel Universe is known for its alternative realities. The interesting fact about it is that Deadpool exists in every alternate reality under a different name and form. There is a clone called “Deadpool”, a “Ladypool” whose name was Wanda Wilson, a dog in his costume named “Dogpool”, ahead in the form of a zombie called “Headpool”, etc. There was also a team created that had every form of Deadpool but it wasn’t well received.
The best amongst these pools was the “Poolverine”, also known as “Wolverinepool”. Since Deadpool was Canadian, Wolverinepool couldn’t belong to New York, so he jibber-jabber-ed about Canadian beer.
There is so much that we still don’t know about this nerve-wracking hideous yet bone-ticklingly funny character. All we know is that he is one of his kind and would be amazing.
Look out for this insanely insane character in your nearest theaters in February, 2016.
