10 Fiction Books One Must Read

Being a fiction freak, these are some of the books I would recommend every reader (or someone who’s just starting to read) to try. Hope you like them all.

1. To Kill A Mocking Bird by Harper Lee

   An American classic, though the book deals with the issues like rape and racism still it has its hilarious moments.
   How Jean has been described, her courage to stand up for her father and her love for him, her desire to see Boo Radley are some elements in the book that’ll make you fall in love with it . When I read it for the first time I was so outraged and sad, I had an opinion on so many things and wanted to share it.

2. And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie
   
   This is a mystery novel rightfully considered as a masterpiece and Agatha’s most difficult book to write. It is a novel about ten people who are summoned as weekend guests to a private island where their eccentric millionare host is nowhere to be found and all of them have their dark pasts marked with secrets none want to reveal. Before the weekend ends, they all are passed judgement upon by the unknown host. Do not miss out on this book if you have a knack for mystery and if you don’t, you surely will do after this.

3. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson

   It is the first book of the Millennium triology followed by The Girl who Played with Fire and The Girl who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest. . Mikael Blomkvist, a financial journalist whose professional life is crumbling gets a chance to resurrect his name again, he is asked to research a case of disappearance. Left with no choice but to accept the offer he seeks help from the rebellious Lisbeth Salander, the best hacker in Sweden. The book becomes unputdownableas the truth that unravel when they are in Hedeby.

4. A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
   All of his books are amazing but this one is my favorite. It is about two women Mariam and Laila as they move from their childhood to adulthood, the hardships they faced, their friendship, their love for each other, the sacrifices they made. Khaled Hosseini will make you weep and squirm and fall in love with the story and the characters.Read this book for an unforgettable experience.

5. I’ll Walk Alone by Mary Higgins Clark
   
   What will you do if you discover that someone is using your credit cards, has access to your bank accounts, is walking around the streets as YOU. Scary, isn’t it? In I’ll walk alone Zan a beautiful and talented interior fashion designer’s world is turned upside down when she discovers that someone has stolen her identity and is destroying her reputation. Disappearance of her son and then receiving some horrifying pics on his 5thbirthday suggesting she kidnapped her own son, hounded by the press, police,her ex husband and a rival,  Zan is in a desperate situation. Who has stolen her identity and why?

6. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzerald

   Another American classic, a romantic and cynical novel about wealth and a group of New Yorkers set around the Jazz era. Daisy and Tom Buchanan, Nick Carraway, and Jay himself are the larger-than-life cast in a tale about money, corruption, desire and deception that’s just as relevant now as it was in 1925. An amazing book with not even a single likable character though the cover is amazing. 😉

7. Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
   Here is a novel for all the fantasy and romance lovers. Deviating from the mainstream vampire and human love stories, Becca Fitzpatrick brings you a young adult novel about a girl Nora Grey who falls in love with a dark and mysterious Patch, a fallen angel. This book followed by it’s three sequels Crescendo, Silence and Finale will take you on an everlasting adventure that will keep you entranced even after you’ve put the book down.

8. The Palace of Illusions by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni
   A best selling novel, The Palace of Illusions is an interpretation of the events of the Hindu epic Mahabharata through the eyes of the great wife of Pandava brothers – Draupadi. This is one book that you just cannot afford to miss if you love myths. It gives you some insight into the lives of the women and broadens your perspective and knowledge about the great Mahabharat

9. Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson 
   Melinda Sordino busted an end-of-Summer party by calling the cops. This act led her to being isolated from her friends and hated by everyone else. Her only escape is being alone with her thoughts but if she let them in, she’d have to speak about the night of the party and what happened there but It’s a secret she’s not ready to accept or reveal. A novel that will leave you heartbreaking and sore but very much in love.

10. It by Stephen King
    You aren’t really a reader if you’ve not read a scary novel and no book can scare you more than this. Not revealing any secrets, I leave it upto you to test the limits of your courage.
